3 Ways To Create A Stylish Winter Look — No Matter Where You Live

By Marie Lodi

Depending on where you live, winter fashion can come in a variety of forms. For the lucky ones in mild climates, it can be as simple as throwing on a wool sweater and jeans, while East Coasters are all too familiar with bundling up in plush, fur-lined parkas and thick-soled boots. Needless to say, climate is the ultimate dictator when it comes to dressing for the seasons, but no matter what type of weather you’re dealing with, your sense of style should never be sacrificed.

To help kick-off the winter season, we teamed up with Walmart to curate a few stylish cold-weather looks inspired by three major cities: New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Each with their own unique sartorial requirements — wind-blocking outerwear for New York, lightweight layers for LA, and versatile accessories for Atlanta — we'll cover all the winter fashion bases with key pieces from Walmart’s Cold Weather Shop.

Temperatures dropping below 60 degrees in L.A. during the winter can be pretty rare, much to the dismay of those who love to layer. But that doesn’t mean Angelenos can’t have fun with their seasonal wardrobes, even if they're vastly different from those of their cold-weather friends. Knee-high boots are a classic (and surprisingly versatile) footwear choice that will never go out of style. Pair yours with a printed shirtdress and moto jacket for a put-together look that will keep you warm in so-called chilly temps. (And if it does get colder than usual, just throw on a pair of leggings.)

Manhattan winters can be brutal, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style to keep warm. A balloon sweater looks great with anything from leggings to jeans, and you can layer it with a snug parka and shearling boots for a fabulously cozy winter look.

Although winters in Atlanta are generally mild, you can count on there to be a handful of rainy days. Thankfully, you don’t have to settle for anything boring when it comes to a winter wardrobe that adapts to all scenarios. Brighten up gray days with metallic combat boots in a funky color, a coordinating puffer jacket that packs away when you don't need it, and classic skinny jeans. A two-tone scarf set is the perfect way to complete the look.
